Abstract

Title:Heat treatment optimization of steel SIDUR 500 plates on production line
Abstract:
A part of strategy of the company SIJ Acroni was an investment in a new line for heat treatment of heavy plate (HTL), which was one of the biggest investments of the group SIJ from year 2014 to year 2020. The HTL line enables better quality and faster production of standard qualities of special heavy plate by regular schedule, as well as production and development of new and more complex (regarding bigger dimensions) types of steel. Steels of their own brand SIDUR present a diversion of steels that have high resistance towards attrition. These types of steels are used for application for transport of ore, in cement industry, farming. SIDUR steels have high resistance even at low temperatures and strenght in intervals from 250 to 600 HB. The main idea of this diploma work was to figure out optimal temperature of austenitization for 25 mm and 50 mm thick plates made from steel SIDUR 500. This diploma presents the optimisation of the austenisastion temperature for steel of the brand SIDUR 500 of two representative thickness that origin from production programm of SIJ Acroni. The first part presents Yominy test of steel hardenasbility, which was made in accordance with standard ASTM. In the second part we tested heat treatment by industrial conditions of HTL line, based on parameters from the first part. Based on the results we have corrected the temperature of austenitisation, which gave us better overall mechanical parameters on intersection of heavy plate made from steel SIDUR 500.
