Introduction: Menopause for women represents the end of her reproductive era. During this time, there can be many different symptoms of menopause, which are not equally common and intense with all. Most of them are at work during this period and menopause related issues are often overlooked particulary at their place of work. To ensure quality of life, certain adjustments are needed. Purpose: The purpose of the diploma work was to find out, what kind of obstacles do women face at their workplace while going through menopause, including the ways these issues shape their work ability and the symptoms accompanying the said period. Methods: In this thesis we have used descriptive method, that enabled us to analyse Slovenian and foreign literature. The age of published literature was limited from 2008 to 2019 and emphasized the last five years. Literature has been searched in data bases like Cochrane Library, ScienceDirect and Medline, using the browers PubMed and DiKUL. The following keywords that have been used: menopause symptoms AND work, menopause AND work ability, menopause AND workplace, menopause employment AND work problems. For searching in Slovenian language, we have used keywords: menopause, menopause AND work. Results: Symptoms of menopause may reduce the quality of women life, particulary when these are frequent and intense. They are disturbing and make daily activities difficult, especially when occuring at the workplace. During this period, the women want to be heard and receive some adjustments by the employer. Thus, they can continue to work productively in their jobs, and menopause symptoms are proven to be less common. It is particulary important that nurses talk to the women and advise them on changes that may help them in their everyday life. Discussion and conclusion: Due to the ageing population, more and more females will experience menopause symptoms at their workplace. Menopause symptoms affect on their productivity and job satisfaction. Health workers support is imperative during this period. They can help coping with the symptoms and increase overall work satisfaction. It is also necessary the women openly talk about the issues with their colleagues and partners, who shall give them all support necessary.
