Abstract
V empiričnem delu sem raziskala, kako vzgojitelji in njihovi pomočniki upoštevajo otrokove individualne potrebe ter želje v času počitka in kako organizirajo aktivni počitek oziroma katere dejavnosti ponudijo nespečim otrokom v dveh izbranih vrtcih.

Title:Comparison of rest of preschool children in urban and rural kindergartens
Abstract:
Man is one of the beings that, in addition to breathing, eating, and excreting, necessarily need sleep to live (Walker, 2019). In the theoretical part of my thesis entitled Comparison of Rest of Preschool Children in Urban and Rural Kindergartens, I highlighted the importance of preschool children’s sleeping as part of a daily routine in kindergarten from the perspective of the Kindergarten Curriculum (1999) and presented the theories of different authors. In the empirical part, I explored how educators and their assistants take into account children's individual needs and desires during rest and how they organize active rest or what activities they offer to sleepless children in the two selected kindergartens. The purpose of the study was to determine whether work during the rest period differs between the city kindergarten in the capital and the rural kindergarten in Tržič. The results of the survey showed different opinions and practices of practitioners in performing their daily routine during rest periods. I have found that urban and rural kindergartens do not differ significantly in the organization of the rest period, they pay special attention to sleep, and are aware of current trends in this field. Noticeable differences are seen in the consideration of the child's individual needs and wishes and in the preparation of activities for children who do not need sleep.
