In the present master’s thesis, it is presented how bachelors of arts and masters of arts in the field of social work enter the labor market after their studies are finished. After the finished studies at the Faculty of Social Work, young graduates start seeking traineeship or gaining work experiences in order to take a certification exam. Both are the condition for a social worker to perform independent work.
The master’s thesis is composed of theoretical and empirical parts.
In the theoretical part, it is defined who are youth and what the definition of youth nowadays is. It is highlighted how youth spend their spare time. It is highlighted how youth spend their spare time, what lifestyles they have, what the forms of education of the youth are, and what is the process of them gaining their independence. Employment and its legal foundation is presented, as well as forms of employment and poverty among the employees. Further, unemployment is explained. Different kinds of unemployment and the influences of unemployment on an individual are shown. The path to the working activity in the field of social work is explained in this part too. The path first begins after the studies are finished with performing traineeship and, later, by taking the certification exam.
The research is qualitative because the method of research is a partially-structured interview. Nine individuals were included in the research. They finished the Faculty of Social Work in the last five years and entered the labor market where they had to seek traineeship. The results were processed qualitatively and are presented in section Results and Research. At the end of this part, the conclusions and proposals of the research are described.
