Abstract

Communicating in daily life is meant to help us to get mass communication among people and to provide different information to get expected and terminated goals. We may say that communication is a basic skill of healthcare employees. Furthermore it is of a great importance that communication is appropriate and timely to allow patients being treated professionally, safe and ethical. Work engagement of all healthcare employees is a key importance to perform their work well and professionally. Due to the nature of work regarding healthcare of persons, who need treatment and care, the commitment of employees depends on various facts. The most important factors should be adequate working conditions and communication among superiors as well as among associates. The first part of the master thesis presents theoretical part of assignment meaning communication and work engagement from professional point of view. Second part of same assignment represents the research performed at the largest health institution in Slovenia. We analysed terminated interpersonal relationship and the role of communication to work engagement. The results show that work engagement is relatively high; on the other hand, the dedication to work is ranking a bit lower but still over average in health institutions. Results show that older employees are ranked higher that young ones. It is general well known that dedication to work depends on attitude toward superior. It is clear that a lot of improvements are possible in this area.
