Abstract

Title:Dialectology in Spain when teaching Spanish as a foreign language
Abstract:
The main focus of this master's thesis is the dialectology in Spain and its incorporation in teaching methods when teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Nowadays, the internet, globalization, migrations, tourism and job opportunities allow students to get easier in contact with native Spanish speakers from Spanish speaking countries, no matter where they study Spanish. That is why professors are challenged to reach an agreement on what “Spanish” should be taught, so the students would be capable to communicate with any native Spanish speaker. The majority of authors distinguish only between Spanish of Spain and Spanish of America, which leads to a generalization of Spanish language and its teaching, which is much more complex than that. For that reason, this master's thesis work focuses on dialects of Spanish in Spain and how to introduce them in teaching Spanish as a foreign language. Therefore, at the end of this thesis I present a lesson plan about dialectology in Spain for students with Spanish level B1-B2.
