Abstract

Title:Vibration exposeru during felling of juvenile conifers standas with battery (Makita DUCZ) and petrol powered chainsaw (Makita EAB)
Abstract:
The purpose of graduation thesis was to answer the question whether the vibration exposure during felling is smaller when using battery or petrol powered chainsaw. The survey was conducted in the area of Vrhnika-Logatec in GGO Ljubljana, GGE Vrhnika. Survey covered 10 dry, ice storm and bark beetle damaged spruce trees. Half of selected trees were felled with battery chainsaw (MAKITA DUC302Z) and half with petrol chainsaw (MAKITA EA320035B). Results show that vibration exposure was greather when working with petrol chainsaw at every working operation except cross cutting, where vibration exposure was smaller for 1,2m/s2. The vibration exposure is bigger at preparation work and under cutting for 1,3m/s2, at backcutting for 1,5m/s2, at butt trimming for 0,2m/s2 and at debranching for 0,4m/s2. Although model values for 8 hour exposure time during work with battery chainsaw (3,37m/s2) is lower than values for petrol chainsaw (3,96m/s2), both values exceed warning law determined value. In order to reduce the vibration exposure during work with battery and petrol chainsaw, we must use appropriate technical and organizational sanctions.
