The diploma thesis analyses the yew (Taxus baccata L.) stand in Brdo near Godovič. On the surface area of 4.48 ha, 58 permanent sampling plots have been marked and 300 yew trees measured. Due to a large number of yew trees, the stand requires careful maintenance of the current tree species composition. Namely, the conservation of the yew tree as a rare species has to be a priority in this area. On the basis of the gathered data, it can be concluded that the sex structure of the tree population is relatively balanced, the majority of the yew trees are of average or even below-average vitality and the regeneration of trees is present although their transition to higher height classes is hindered by game browsing. Similar problems with regeneration have also been identified in other studied stands in various parts of Europe. In the thesis, certain measures for the conservation of the yew trees are suggested but they still have to be examined in practice.
