Abstract

Title:
ANALYSIS OF EMPLOYMENT IN THE SLOVENIAN MILITARY
Abstract:
Employment in the Slovenian Armed Forces is an area that needs a lot of attention. Various activities are underway in this area to solve the existing problem with the goal of increasing the number of new employees. A sufficient number of service members in active and reserve component is also important for the effective functioning of the entire defence system in the Republic of Slovenia. The diploma thesis presents the analysis of employment in the period from 2014 to 2018. By reviewing the reports of the Ministry of Defence, data was obtained that could be used to quantitatively analyse the proposed hypotheses. At the conclusion of the full analysis, it was found that the number of new employees did not increase over the years but actually decreased; despite the fact that several promotional activities were carried out each year. The focus of the analysis was on achieving the planned volume of active component, which showed that the plan was achieved by at least 90%. Young people are the target population for the Slovenian Armed Forces. Every year a briefing of conscripts is made, where boys as young as 18 are informed of their rights and duties as conscripts. The analysis has shown that the Slovenian Armed Forces carry out many promotional activities on an annual basis, which should contribute to a larger number of employees. The results of the study could help improving the ways and procedures for recruiting personnel for employment in the SAF and to make substantive changes that will also improve the existing personnel situation.
