Abstract
Spletna družbena omrežja svojim uporabnikom omogočajo oblikovanje anonimnega profila in enostavno komuniciranje. V magistrski nalogi smo proces nastajanja in širjenja sovražnega govora, ter obseg potencialnih manipulacij mnenj uporabnikov spletnih družbenih omrežij, obravnavali s specifičnega metodološko-analitičnega vidika.

Title:
Hate speech and social network sites: case study
Abstract:
Social networks enable their users to create an anonymous profile and offers them convenient way of communication. Not only high reach, but also fast dissemination of information considerably changed dynamics of hate speech propagation. Social networks are also useful to interest groups as a possible tool for manipulation of social network's users' opinions. Hate speech on social networks is problematic as it can act as a precursor to actual hate crimes and its impact on lessened levels of general communication among its users. In master thesis, the process of generation and diffusion of the hate speech and the extent possible user opinion manipulation was treated from a specific methodological-analytical standpoint. Based on data gathered by project FRENK which deal with comments of posts of LGBT and refugee thematic on Facebook sites of three Slovenian news providers we have found out that comments with hate speech or otherwise improper speech generate comments with the same type of speech. We have also found out that comments contributed early after their respective Facebook posts have more replies. There are relatively low number of commentators who are associated because of their synchronized commenting activity at the same Facebook posts or same comment threads.
