Abstract

Title:Attitudes and experiences of the third triad of elementary school students with mathematical homework
Abstract:
Homeworks are known from the history of education, but they change over the course of time according to schooling goals. Homeworkassignmentshave educationalsignificance. In order to achieve their purpose with students, but not overburden them, the teacher needs to carefully plan homeworks, communicate them to students and at the end evaluate finishedhomeworks. It is also important that teacher appropriately motivates and encourages students to perform homeworks regularly. Certainly, students play a major role at homework assignments and need to regularly perform them. Parents also have an important influence on students. They need to motivate their children, encourage them, and help them, when needed. Neat and quiet place for students to perform their homeworks is also important. If teachers, students and parents all participate at homework assignmets, homeworkscan achieve their purpose. That is why, in my master's thesis, I analised all the information related to homeworks, their purpose, goals and how different authors define homeworks. I have described what types of homeworks we know, how teachers plan, assign and evaluate them and how students confront with them. I have listed various positive and negative effects on students and what contributes to students better motivation for homework assignments. I briefly described parents role with students homeworks and how they, with pedagogically acceptable ways, can help to better efficiency of homeworks. I also briefly defined mathematical homeworks and how teachers can help themselves with the use of modern technology. In the empirical part, I researched students experiences and opinions regarding homeworks. I was interested in theiropinion about homework quantity, complexity, the importance and interestingness of homeworks and the way their teachers assigns and evaluates their homeworks.
