Abstract
Pridobljene podatke smo obdelali s pomočjo programa Atlas.ti. Pri promoviranju krvodajalstva mladim vključujejo različne institucije, in sicer osnovne šole, študentske klube, mladinske centre, občine, gasilce, policijo, razna društva in klube, organizacije, podjetja, cerkev in zdravstvene domove.

Title:Identification of effective approaches of promoting blood donation among young people in selected places in Slovenia without secondary schools : diploma work
Abstract:
Introduction: Blood is necessary for life, which is why it is very important that hospitals always have enough of blood supplies. Even though science is constantly improving, scientists have not yet managed to produce artificial blood. Its main source is blood donors and in Slovenia, the Red Cross provides them. Since people are getting older and older, they cannot donate blood anymore, therefore, it is very important to motivate young people to donate it. Purpose: The aim of the paper is to explore ways of how to promote donating blood among young people in selected places in Slovenia where there are no secondary schools. We studied what obstacles the Red Cross has to face while promoting blood donation among young people and which institutions help them in doing so. Methods: In the theoretical part, we made a review of Slovene, foreign and scientific literature that was issued between 2010 and 2020 with the help of web search engines, such as PubMed/Medline, ScienceDirect, Cinahl and Cochrane Online Library. In the empirical part of the paper, we conducted an interview with professional workers who are responsible for attracting blood donors in the selected areas of local Red Cross associations with no secondary schools. The interviewees were asked about successful ways of getting young people to donate as well as about the obstacles and institutions that may help them. The information obtained was processed with the help of Atlas.ti. Results: The interviewees said that they use many methods of attracting young people to donate, such as lectures and blood donor actions at primary schools, using media and web pages, sending e-mails and invitations to households, promoting at presentations at fire stations, different associations, etc. They face many obstacles that are usually successfully resolved, but not all. By promoting blood donation among young people, they get help from many institutions: primary schools, student clubs, youth centres, municipalities, firefighters, the police, associations and organizations, businesses, churches and health centres. Discussion and conclusion: We concluded that the Red Cross organizations use many different methods and institutions that work with them to promote blood donation. We also concluded that quantity of different methods does not improve the number of donors they have.
