Abstract
Teoretični del zajema predstavitev osnov embalaže, embalažnih materialov in ekološkega oblikovanja. Predstavljena sta pravilnik o vsebini in načinu označevanja embalaže tamponov in analiza trendov tovrstne embalaže. Testirane so bile osnovne, mehanske, površinske in optične lastnosti obeh kartonov.

Title:Development of new packaging for women's personal care
Abstract:
The diploma thesis is based on the development of a tampon packaging with new functionality and collaboration with the company Tosama. The theoretical part includes presentation of the basics of packaging, packaging materials and eco-design. A policy on the content and method of labeling of tampon packaging and an analysis of trends in such packaging are presented. In the experimental part a one side coated cardboard with a grammage of 370 g/m2 and an E-flute corrugated cardboard were analyzed. Due to a desire for a natural and ecological packaging appearance, the back, brown side of both tested materials has been set as the top (A) side. Basic, mechanical, surface and optical properties of both cartons have been tested. Test results indicated that the cardboard with the grammage of 370 g/m2 is more appropriate for the packaging. The selected material has higher bending stiffness, bursting strength, folding endurance, and puncture resistance compared to corrugated cardboard, it is less absorbable and more suitable for packaging, due to a lower roughness value it enables better print quality. The structural design of the packaging was drawn using the payable program ArtiosCAD (Esko, Belgium). The designing of the graphics was based on an existing Tosama brand called Natura Femina Organic using the program Adobe Illustrator CC (Adobe Inc., USA). The color palette was adapted to the selected material, however, logos, typography and labels which must be present on the packaging were retained and represent the special features of the brand. The printing was carried out using the UV inkjet printer APEX JET UV6090 (Shanghai Focus Industrial Co., Ltd., China), and the cut on the laser cutter Kongsberg X20 (Esko, Belgium). The packaging is designed in a minimalistic and functional way, and the packaging contains a larger amount of packaged tampons in order to reduce packaging waste.
