The Youth Council of Slovenia has been preparing a contest called The Volunteer of the Year for several years. Thus, they choose the best volunteers every year. They wish to show the public how exceptional work that is, how important it is for an individual and the society, and, mostly, that it deserves respect and attention.
Within the context of the bachelor’s thesis, we designed a printed advertisement for the contest and the final event. We prepared recognition awards, a poster and an invitation to the event. The cohesive thread of the bachelor’s thesis is the recognition awards.
In the theoretical part, we presented an organization and the contest The Volunteer of the Year and reviewed the basics for forming the printed advertisement: size, colors, compositions, and typography. We reviewed graphic and communication strategy, analyzed the cases of good practices, and determined the target audience.
In the experimental part, we produced three versions of the recognition awards. The third recognition award has two versions which are almost equal to each other. They are different only in metrics. Thus, we analyzed four versions and, on the basis of the results, determined the best version and then also produced a poster and the invitation in the same style.
We performed the bachelor’s thesis by means of the programming equipment Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Microsoft Office. We also used a smartphone and a graphic tablet. For the analysis of the recognition awards, we used the technology of eye-tracking by means of which we checked the quality, usefulness, and efficiency of the recognition awards. When analyzing, we focused mostly on that which part of the recognition award draws the most attention. In addition to the results gained by the eye-tracking device, we also produced an online survey (1ka website) which served for the comparison of the data. The products are presented in writing and graphically in the chapter Experimental Part. The results and the analyses are presented in chapter Results and Discussion.
