Abstract
V svoji diplomski nalogi z naslovom Prežihovi Samorastniki: od novele do filma, od pankrtske matere do herojinje sem obravnavala novelo Prežihovega Voranca Samorastniki in istoimenski film v režiji Igorja Pretnarja. Prvo polovico naloge zajema nekaj ključnih opažanj o tem, kako poteka prenos literature na filmsko platno ter uvrstitev Samorastnikov kot literarnega dela kot tudi filma. Sledi primerjava med liki v noveli in v filmu, saj v filmski upodobitvi lahko opazimo precejšnja odstopanja in razlike od likov v prvotni literarni predlogi. V drugi polovici naloge sem obravnavala predvsem vlogo žensk v slovenskem filmu s poudarkom na liku Mete iz Samorastnikov. Obravnavala sem predvsem njeno vlogo matere, njen razvoj od nezakonske matere do borke za svoje pravice ter razloge, zakaj je postala za slovensko občinstvo tako pomemben in edinstven lik, tako v slovenski literaturi kot tudi v filmu.

Title:Prežihov's Samorastniki: from novella to film, from bastard’s mother to a heroine
Abstract:
The diploma Prežihov's Samorastniki: from novella to film, from bastard’s mother to a heroine discusses the novella by Prežihov Voranc Samorastniki and eponymous movie directed by Igor Pretnar. The first half of the diploma mostly gathers some key facts and observations about the process of adaptation of a book to screen and classification of the novella and the film Samorastniki. After that follows a comparison of the characters between those in the novella and in the film with some observation how those characters changed in the film. In the second part of the diploma I mostly focused on the women’s role in Slovenian film and once again focused on the central character from the novella Samorastniki, Meta. I particularly discussed her role as a mother, her evolution from an unwed mother to a fighter for her rights and reasons why she became such an important an unique character for Slovenian audience.
