In the municipality of Bled tourism is the main economic sector. In recent years, an increase of tourist visitation to Bled has been noticeable as Bled has become famous worldwide. As a result, tourism quickly began to develop in the surrounding settlements. The final seminar paper focuses on presenting the impact of Bled on the development of tourism in the surrounding area; all settlements in the vicinity of Bled within the municipality of Bled are defined as surroundings. These are: Bohinjska Bela, Obrne, Kupljenik, Slamniki, Selo, Ribno, Bodešče, Koritno, Zasip. The biggest development of tourism in the surrounding area is reflected in the large increase of accommodation options—especially the increase of apartments and rooms for rent. The development of tourism in the area is defined on the basis of the information regarding different accommodation providers through the last four years. In addition, I made field survey with accommodation providers which gave me the reasons behind the increasing number of accommodation providers. I observed what problems accommodation providers have to face, why tourists choose to stay with them, what is their attitude towards tourists, what is their opinion of Bled tourism. This thesis also defines the basic concepts related to tourism and the main characteristics of the municipality.
