The educational system plays a key role in the integration process of migrant children in the host country. The school is the place where socialization takes place. Through appropriate policies and measures in the field of education, the state can significally contribute to the successful integration. I chose this topic of integration of immigrant children in Slovenia in school, because it is always present and although much has been done to improve the integration many things still have not changed for better.
As a foreign student who also came to Slovenia, I am very interested into process of integration, especially immigrant students who face stigma and discrimination in the educational process. As a volunteer at daily care center for immigrant students, I noticed that a lot of them were not satisfied with school, how they are treated, they had problems integrating in a new environment. The purpose of my research is to show actual situation of migrant students in school, I am interested in the opinions of employees at the school, their experience and reflections so far, as well as their opinion on the situation, how it used to be before and how is the current situation, what they think about how things could be improved.
