Abstract
Esta tesina de máster trata sobre dos novelas de aprendizaje El camino (1950) de Miguel Delibes y Primera memoria (1959) de Ana María Matute, que se publican durante el franquismo. A pesar de la atenta supervisión de todas las actividades culturales por parte del férreo sistema de la censura, y de la consecuente autocensura de los propios creadores, ambas obras realizan una crítica implícita de la sociedad española de la época. Las obras requieren un lector activo que sepa descifrar el mensaje entre líneas. Ambos mundos novelescos recrean microcosmos en los que se reproducen todas las anomalías de la sociedad. En el contexto socio-histórico se repasan algunos hechos históricos que marcan la sociedad de la época. La parte teórica reúne las principales características del funcionamiento de la censura, los testimonios de los mismos autores y, por último, las consecuencias que deja la represión en la creación literaria y cinematográfica: el discurso de la censura. La parte aplicativa se centra en la detección e interpretación de diferentes elementos estilísticos y narrativos: la percepción del espacio y el tiempo, las figuras retóricas, la perspectiva infantil/juvenil, la creación de personajes y las escenas, etc. Los autores transmiten la crítica a través de la caracterización de los personajes y la actitud de estos en diferentes situaciones en las que se ven implicados. La estructura del análisis de las dos novelas es muy parecida, por lo que en la conclusión se comparan ambas obras, destacando sus principales similitudes y diferencias.

Title:A social critique in the novel The path of Miguel Delibes and in the novel First memory of Ana María Matute
Abstract:
This master's thesis discusses two education novels, The path (1950) by Miguel Delibes and First memory (1959) by Ana María Matute, both published in the Franco era. At that time, all cultural activity was carefully monitored by a strict censorship system, leading both authors to engage in self-censorship. Hence, the criticism of Spanish society of the period in both books is merely implied. They thus require an active reader who can read between the lines to get the message. Both novelistic worlds create a microcosm that reproduces every anomaly of society. The socio-historical context depicts specific historical events that marked the society of that time. The theoretical part of the paper sums up the main characteristics of the censorship system, personal accounts by the authors, and, ultimately, the result of the repression of literary production and filmmaking: the discourse of censorship. The applicative part of the paper focuses on the identification and interpretation of various stylistic and narrative elements: the perception of time and space, rhetorical figures, perspective of a child/teenager, character and scene creation etc. The authors convey their criticism via the portrayal of characters and their actions in various situations. The analysis structure of both novels is similar, with both pieces being compared in the conclusion, highlighting their similarities and the most notable differences.
