This master's thesis deals with the analysis of the errors made by Slovene-speaking high school students when it comes to writing in Italian language. The research is based on essays written by students in the Italian as a foreign language exam (advanced level) at the GCE Advanced level.
In the first part, the author presents his field of study through a historical overview of the interlanguage studies, which represents a language that is formed by foreign language speakers. The core of the work is errors analysis along with its classifications, and at the same time, the author focuses on searching for interference, or in other words, on the influence of Slovene in writing in Italian language. The author further presents and explains the found errors, by means of which he contributes to the comprehension of the motives behind errors and impacts that one language may have on the learning of another one. In the conclusion, the author attempts to define whether there are more intralinguistic or interlinguistic errors in the analysed essays, and why is that so.
