The aim of the master thesis entitled The Regionalism in The French and Slovenian Prose of the Mid twnetieth Century – The Example of Marcel Pagnol and Miško Kranjec is to analyse literary and linguistic regionalisms in the cycles L’Eau des collines, Les Souvenirs d’enfance and in the novel Strici so mi povedali.
In the theoretical part, we have recapitulated the history of evolution of regionalisms in France and Slovenia as well as explained the influence of political regionalism on the apparition of literary and linguistic regionalism. Next, we have briefly examined the evolution of the language in the regions of Provence and Prekmurje. The analytical part starts with the biographies of Marcel Pagnol and Miško Kranjec and resumes of the cycles L’Eau des collines, Les Souvenirs d’enfance and the novel Strici so mi povedali. The analysis of regionalisms which follows takes into account several aspects: landscape, customs and traditions, references to rural surroundings, mentions of regional history, inhabitants (peasants), as well as linguistic regionalisms.
