Primerjalna analiza Eliotovega Umora v katedrali in Smoletove Antigone

Magistrsko delo obravnava dve drami, Umor v katedrali in Antigono, in ju poskuša umestiti v zvrst poetične drame. Obe drami smo analizirali s pomočjo modela, ki zajema določene značilnosti statičnega gledališča in smo ga spoznali preko Gašperja Trohe. Ugotovili smo, da s pomočjo modela lahko določimo ključne elemente, ki so prisotni v poetičnih dramah. Med obema tekstoma smo našli analogije tako na ravni strukture verza kot v vsebini. Podobnosti so se najverjetneje pojavile predvsem zaradi duha poetične drame. Vpliva Eliota na Smoleta nam ni uspelo dokazati, čeprav je ponekod raba podob skoraj enaka. Prepoznali smo družbeno kritično snov, ki se pojavi pri obeh avtorjih. Pri tem smo pri Eliotu opazili močan vpliv krščanskih elementov, pri Smoletu pa vpliv eksistencializma. Z modelom smo uspešno umestili drami v zvrst poetične drame, s tem pa smo lažje prepoznali vzorce v zborovskih delih, ki se pojavljajo pri obeh avtorjih.

• Title: Comparative analisys of Eliot's Murder in the Cathedral and Smolet's Antigona

Abstract

The postgraduate thesis focuses on two dramas, Murder in the Cathedral and Antigona and tries to place them into a formal structure of poetic drama. We analized both text with the help of a model, which was presented by Gašper Troha. We have come to a conclusion that with the help of this model, we can determine some similar elements that are present in both works. We have found a number of similarities in form of verse and content. We established that those similarities are within the spirit of poetic drama and they derive from that. We couldn't find any evidence that Eliot influenced Smole's work, although the use of symbols is very similar. We recognized social criticism in both. We also recognized christian simbols in Eliot's drama and symbols of existentialism in Smole's drama. This model helped us place both drama in a structure of poetic dramas in a structure of poetic drama and with that we were able to recognize patterns within the chorus parts.
