Abstract
Proučevanje smo strnili v območje kilometrskega pasu neposredno ob železniški progi, ki poteka v treh občinah, to so Divača, Hrpelje - Kozina in Koper. Pridobili smo mnenja prebivalcev, ki živijo neposredno ob obstoječi železniški progi, in predstavnika občine Hrpelje - Kozina o izgradnji novega, drugega tira.

Title:Geographical and sociological asessment of the proposed construction of the second railway track from Divača to Koper
Abstract:
The neoliberal times we live in are socially, economically and environmentally incongruous. The neoliberal system has widened the gap between the wealthy and the poor. It prioritizes capitalism and globalisation and disregards society as well as the environment. An alternative to neoliberalism can be found in eco-socialism, a democratic and sustainable socialism which advocates sustainable economic growth whilst focusing on the welfare of society and the environment. Its aim is to reduce the number of drastic environmental impacts and to strive for an economic model which considers not only profit but social welfare, social equality and the Earth’s carrying capacity. Building a second track along the Divača-Koper railway line could mean a step towards a more sustainably oriented economy as promoted by the political concept of eco-socialism. This Master’s thesis examines the environmental, social and economic factors which will be influenced by the construction of the second track. The area studied extends through three municipalities: Divača, Hrpelje-Kozina and Koper. The research involved examining the perceived impact of the existing railway track on the population, environment and economy of the area. A survey was carried out to obtain the views about the construction of the second track of the people living along the railway track and the opinion of the municipality of Hrpelje-Kozina.
