The thesis deals with the architectural and socio-political history of the state house belonging to Carniolan nobility (ger. Das Landhaus). It was built in several phases from the beginning of the 16th century onward. Part of the former palace of Carniolan nobility is still located on the corner of Gosposka Street and Novi trg as the seat of Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts. The purpose of the thesis is to present the history of construction works and renovations of the building, which was intertwined with the history and meaning of the estate corporation. The crucial emphasis of the research is on the puzzling and extensive renovation of the building in the second half of the 18th century, which is still partially visible on the façade. The methods of research, spanning from late 15th to early 20th century, were based on existing literature. Due to lacking and often contradictory information on the building, however, it was also crucial to perform archival analysis of available historical sources and architectural plans.
