Abstract

The present thesis offers an overview of the life of Juan Luis Vives, the humanist scholar, with regard to the historical context and his works. It focuses on his educational manual titled De institutione feminae christianae, writen for the daughter of the English monarch. It touches upon his philosophy and concludes with selection of translated excerpts to offer a better understanding of his work.
