Abstract

Title:Spatial analysis of natural climbing crags and climbing routes in Slovenia's forest area
Abstract:
There are 92 outdoor climbing crags registered in Slovenia. Climbing has become a popular recreation in Slovenia. The increase in the number of climbers implies a burden on outdoor climbing crags. In the first part of diploma thesis, we present the existing literature covering outdoor climbing crags in Slovenia. In the second part, we determined the location of climbing sectors based on fieldwork and laser scanning data of Slovenia. In the further analysis, the land use was determined from RABA graphic data for the Slovenia. The ownership of the climbing crags was determined from the data on parcel ownership. The importance of forest functions in the area of Slovenia’s climbing crags was determined from data of forest functions from Slovenia forest service data. 88.5% of climbing areas are located in forests, 76.5% out of those are private. The recreational function of forests is present in 7.6 % of climbing crags. Results show that climbing and climbing crags are poorly understood in the forestry. We suggest a re-evaluation of forest function in the areas of climbing crags.
