The master's thesis deals with young people in the rural settlement of Črešnjevec, namely young people who believe Črešnjevec is a part of their lives. It focuses in particular on their interconnectedness and socialising for the purpose of enjoying a pleasant time in their hometown, gaining community strengths and solidarity, and for the purpose of their voices to be heard and appreciated in the local community. In my thesis I think about connection, empowerment, services and activities offered, and creating conditions from a social-pedagogical perspective. In addition, I ponder on the possibilities of working as a social pedagogue in the local community, especially as a spokesperson for youth and their goals or overlooked social groups. My thesis addresses the theoretical framework of youth, interconnectedness, social networks, communities, rural areas, local communities and social pedagogy. The purpose of the empirical part is, according to the action research approach, to change the existing practice: detecting, constructing a common point and/or connecting element of the target group and using it for group and community development of town; as well as empowering young people with help of informing, listening and agitation. The data are analyzed by summarization. The purpose of the thesis is a concrete introduction of social-pedagogical activity into the rural settlement in order to achieve the set changes. It contributes to considering the minority in the chosen environment and examines the role of a social pedagogue as a field worker in the local community.
