Abstract

Title:The concept of overman in novels Gospa Judit and Klement by Ivan Cankar and Vitomil Zupan
Abstract:
Overman is a philosophical construct of German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche which presumes that somebody, who is longing for will to power, is brave enough to reject the established social values and thus enables spiritual surplus and eternal return. Cankar's Miss Judit is a woman who dared to revalue her values and spiritually exclude herself from society. With that, and according to the community she lived in, she managed to prove that the presumption for creation of overman can exist in her. Zupan's Klement represents a human that is caught in his own existential questions. Compared to Miss Judit, Klement is only a representative of weak overhuman. The whole bachelor thesis is based on Nietzsche's book Thus Spoke Zarathustra in which Nietzsche's literary-philosophical ability is reflected and it helps the concept of overman to remain the mystery. In my thesis, I will analyze mentioned novels with help of Nietzsche's philosophy (and some other philosophers). Moreover, I will try to prove that in both novels there are propositions which enable acceptance of the hypothesis that it is possible to find the concept of overman in novels.

Keywords:philosophy in literature, will to power, nihilism, eternal return, overman
