Abstract

Title:
Historical development of scouts in Slovenia
Abstract:
Scouts create a better world is World organization of the scout movement motto that perfectly describes what scouts are all about. Educating young people to become autonomous, responsible, solidarity and engagedcitizens is an important step towards becoming holistic people who will find themselves in life and with stand the pressures of life. In mythesis I presented the development of scouts in the first part in the world frame work, and in the second, the development of scouts in Slovenia. Scout organization in Slovenia was developing differently than else where, as two organizations were developing simultaneously – Scouts and Woodcraft indians. Although there were almost no differences between them, they found their way together only after World War II, when they established a Slovenian scout organization. I also presented the current status of National Scout Association of Slovenia and it´s structur and compared it with the organization in the time of Yugoslavia. Oris razvoja slovenskega taborništva by Rudolf Wolleand skavti in gozdovniki na Slovenskem were Mire Grašič and Marjan Matjašič as the most important sources of information, as well as information obtained from older scouts. For sources of information I also used the minutes of the assemblies of National Scout Association of Slovenia.
