V magistrski nalogi Ples z Benthamom se ukvarjam s sistemi nadzorovanja, ki so postali del našega vsakdana, in s tem, kako lahko te nadzorne tehnologije uporabljamo za produkcijo umetniškega dela. Pišem o virtualnih platformah in družbenih omrežjih, ki so nastala ob prihodu interneta in o novih načinih razstavljanja in povezovanja v digitalnem prostoru. S svojim praktičnim delom magistrskega dela se referiram na umetnike iz polja video umetnosti, performansa, internetne umetnosti, instalacijske umetnosti in institucionalne kritike, ki so predstavljeni v besedilu. Problematiziram stanje sodobnega umetnika in njegovo ujetost v umetniški sistem, kjer je meja med delom in prostim časom postala zabrisana. Raziskujem odnos umetnika do umetnostnih institucij, odnos med telesom in prostorom, nove tehnologije in prepletanje umetniških medijev.

Abstract

In the MA thesis Dance with Bentham I am writing about surveillance systems that have become part of our daily life and about how we can use this surveillance technology to produce artwork. I am writing about virtual platforms and social networks that have formed with the rise of the internet and about new ways of exhibiting and connecting in the digital space. With the practial part of my MA, I am refering to artists from the field of video art, performance, internet art, installation art and also institutional critique. I am problematising the condition of a contemporary artist and his/hers entanglement in the art system, where the line between work and free time has become blurred. I am exploring the relationship between the artist and the art institution, the relationship between the body and space, new technologies and merging/interlacing of artistic mediums.
