Abstract
Magistrska naloga Tradicija in sodobnost v vzorčni kolekciji puloverjev v teoretičnem delu raziskuje vpliv in vlogo hitre mode v družbi.

Title:Tradition and modernity in the sample collection of sweaters
Abstract:
In the theoretical part, the master’s thesis titled Tradition and Modernity in the Sample Collection of Sweaters researches the influence and the role of fast fashion in society. The purpose of the research is the development of the sample collection of sweaters which draw the inspiration from the past, tradition, and rich cultural heritage of crafts. The collection is an answer to the current accelerated growth of non-personalized, rapidly changing fashion trends and the increasing number of new clothing collections in commercially oriented shops. At the same time, the thesis draws attention to the issues of fast fashion and its impact on the environment and the consumers. The crafts are modernized and refreshed by means of a laser cutter which serves as an excellent basis for applying and layering of samples and new volumes into the sweater story. In the practical part of the master’s thesis, the development and performance composed of matching sweaters and pants designed from neoprene imitation are presented. Due to its raw-material structure, the latter is appropriate for laser-cut and retains a silhouette. In addition to neoprene imitation, the clothing collection is also composed of hairy cotton overalls. The purpose of the development of sweaters is for an individual alone to fill in the laser-cut basis artistically or to choose an already-embroidered sweater. The basic element is a textile basis on which artistic embroidery, interlacing, and crochet are performed. The thesis reflects congeniality not only to crafts and mottos, such as “Do It Yourself” or “Less Is More”, but also to slow fashion, sustainable fashion, and the reuse of discarded textiles. The result of the master’s thesis is a modern collection of sweaters intertwined with the tradition and the richness of handcrafted details, patterns, and laser-cut carnations.
