Abstract

Title:»Do not accept, change!« Student work-camp in special care home in Demir Kapija.
Abstract:
In this graduation thesis I will analyse my experience of the student work-camp »Do not accept, change!« that Slovenian social work students organised between the 29th of October 2017 and the 3rd of November 2017 with the help of our professors and students from the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. The camp was organised in the Special care home Demir Kapija in Macedonia and its main purpose was to bring attention to the inequities and injustices that regularly enclose the residents of total institutions. In the theoretical introduction I present the many problems of total institutions. Then I introduce multiple user movements and distinct work-camps from the past, ending with the detailed account of different methods of social work that help and guide us in our work that we also implemented throughout the whole week of our camp. I arrived at the conclusions presented in my graduation thesis through interviews conducted with the students from the Faculty of Social work in Ljubljana that attended our work-camp. The purpose of my research was to investigate and clarify the advantages and disadvantages of our camp, to figure out what worked and what could have worked better so we can prepare and organise them better in the future.
