Nadgradnja ali zamenjava glavnih bojnih tankov s sistemi nove generacije – študija primerov: Združene države Amerike in Ruska federacija

Države se v današnjem času na področju obrambe ukvarjajo s problemi nadgradnje ali zamenjave glavnih bojnih tankov, s čimer si večajo svojo ofenzivno in defenzivno moč težkega oklepa. Države imajo v grobem na voljo dva načina izboljšanja svojih glavnih bojnih tankov, in sicer da nadgradijo obstoječe v smislu novega oklepa, boljše oborožitve, izboljšanih nameritvenih sistemov, izboljšanja obrambnega sistema vozila in drugo ali da se odločijo za nakup oborožitvenega sistema novejše generacije. V tem primeru je treba opisati, kdaj se glavni bojni tank šteje za nadgrajenega in kdaj za novo generacijo, hkrati pa se pojavi vprašanje, za katero od naštetih možnosti se države odločijo. Časovno obdobje raziskovanja je osredotočeno od konca druge svetovne vojne vse do danes, tako dolgo obdobje pa je smotrno raziskati zaradi nastanka novih generacij bojnih tankov, ki so jih države nadgradile oziroma jih zamenjale z novejšimi.

• Title: Upgrade or replacement of the main battle tanks with new generation systems - study examples: United States of America and the Russian Federation

Abstract

Nowadays in the field of defense, countries are dealing with problems involving upgrade or replacement of the main battle tanks, which leads to increase of their offensive and defensive power of heavy armor. Countries mainly use two improvement methods for their main battle tanks, the first one being upgrade of existing ones in terms of new armor, better armament, improved planning systems, improvement of the defense system of the vehicle, etc. and the second one being country's decision to buy new generation armed system. Therefore it is necessary to describe when the main battle tank is considered to be upgraded or being new generation, but at the same time the question arises “which of the options are chosen by the countries”. Research is focusing on this field since the end of the Second World War to this today. Such an extensive period is worth exploring because, of the emergence of newer generations of battle tanks which were upgraded or replaced the older generations.
