Abstract
Z deregulacijo trga električne energije, povečanjem meddržavne izmenjave, uvajanjem obnovljivih virov in razpršene proizvodnje, postaja dinamični nadzor (ang. Dynamic line rating - DLR) pretoka energije nujen del celotnega sistema.

Title:Upgrading of device for on-line overhead transmission line monitoring
Abstract:
With deregulation of square power, interconnection, introduction of renewable sources in diffuse production, the dynamic line rating (DLR) is a necessary part of the whole system. System like this, allows maximum use (ampacity) of existing and new overhead lines with safe and reliable operation. The key parameter affecting the managing of energy flow and ampacity is the temperature of the conductor at heating or cooling. At higher temperatures and winter loads, the lines of the transmission line connect and can reach the permissible safety height. Purpose of the degree dissertation is to present new technologies that would enable more efficient control over ampacity of the transmission line and help to ensure prescribed safety height, especially in extreme conditions. Extra damage to the power lines can be caused by extreme winter weather conditions when icing is formed on conductors. Effective maintenance and monitoring of power lines is required to ensure uninterrupted distribution of electricity. In February 2014, extreme icing in Slovenia caused big damage to the electricity network of all voltage levels. A large number of overhead lines were damaged and entire sections of overhead lines were destroyed in some areas. The integration of real-time monitoring (like video surveillance) into the existing power line infrastructure would allow us to identify the formation of icing. This would prevent damage to the system and interruption of electricity supply. For my degree dissertation, I upgraded the OTLM system with a camera, enabling the OTLM system to take real time pictures of the conductor. This allows additional and more accurate analysis, more precise examination of lines and its individual components on difficult to reach places.
