Abstract
Ker sem raziskovala preobremenjenost oskrbovalcev v ruralnem okolju, me je zanimalo, katere formalne oblike pomoči poznajo oskrbovalci in kako pogosto jih izrabljajo. Zaradi oskrbe pogosto zanemarijo svoje potrebe in želje.

Title:Burning out among the relatives of people with dementia in the rural area
Abstract:
In the graduation thesis, I discuss burning out and overburdening among relatives of people with dementia. I analysed burning out among carers, who are taking care of people with dementia in the domestic environment in the rural area. In the theoretical part, I presented dementia, its types and stages. In continuation, I also described the communication with people with dementia and explained the role of relatives in taking care of people with dementia. The last more important topic, which I also present in the theoretical part, is burning out among relatives of people with dementia. For the analysis, I used a qualitative research. My main goal was to analyse, how taking care of a person with dementia affects their relatives and how burdened are they because of caring for a person with dementia. I also wanted to find out, which emotions they are experiencing during the care and who helps them with the care. Because I was analysing overburdening of carers in the rural environment, I also wanted to find out, which formal forms of help the carers are familiar with and how often they use them. During the research, I found that relatives, who are taking care for a person with dementia, are very burdened with the care. Because of caring for their relatives, they often neglect their own needs and desires. The awareness of people in the rural area about dementia is very weak. In the future, it would be necessary to inform the residents of rural environments about dementia and taking care of people with dementia. The carers should be informed about formal forms of help, with which they are not familiar and consequently are not using them. At the same time, self-help groups should be formed in the rural environment. This way, the rural residents would have access to this group and could obtain information about dementia and different forms of taking care for people with dementia, which would contribute to less burning out of the carers.
