Abstract

Title:Characterization of heat pump’s vibroacoustic response
Abstract:
For air-to-water heat pumps, along with the energy efficiency, vibration and noise are one of the key factors that indicate to the quality of the device. Vibrations affect both the structural noise and the life-time of the device. The main source of mechanical vibration in the heat pump presents the air compressor. In this master thesis, a measuring system was developed to determine the natural frequencies and to deduce the kinematic excitation parameters of the compressor. The response of the pipe system attached to the compressor was simulated using the developed model on the basis of the finite element method. The numerical model was validated based on the measurement. Here we assumed that the system is linear and that the compressor excites the system in the form of kinematic excitation with a harmonic function. On the basis of the preformed simulations, we identified the critical operating conditions of the device and finally present measures to reduce the amplitude of vibrations and consequently the noise of the device.
