Abstract

Title:3D printing on T-shirts
Abstract:
The paper studies the use of 3D-printing technology in the field of textile printing, more specifically 3D-printing on cotton T-shirt. The main goal of the paper is to prove that it is possible to print on textile material using 3D-printing technologies and not only with conventional and digital printing techniques. The theoretical part introduces the 3D-printing technology, where the main focus is on the FDM technology and filament materials, which we used in our experimental part of the paper. We also present the basic characteristics of cotton and T-shirts and the current state in the field of research and in the market are presented. The empirical part is divided into two parts. The first part describes the entire work process of designing the test sample in terms of shape and dimensions, the 3D-modeling with the Blender program, the final preparations in the Voxelizer 3D-printing program and the 3D-printing of the test sample onto the T-shirt made of cotton, which was then used in the adhesion testing with the dynamometer using three different filament materials (PLA, PET-G and TPU Flex). We analysed the adhesion forces between the printed test sample and the cotton fabric. We compared the results of all three filament materials. The second part presents the entire design process of two different 3D models, which were printed as a design on a cotton T-shirt. The final results confirmed that due to its flexibility and adaptability the best filament material for 3D-printing on a cotton T-shirt is the TPU Flex material, which at the same time also proved to be the most difficult to work with during the 3D-printing process.

Keywords:3D-printing, FDM technology, cotton T-shirt, 3D filaments, adhesion testing.
