In my thesis, I criticise contemporary theories of democracy from the political psychology perspective. I try to combine two main teories, found in scientific literature, that is rational irrationality and political identity. Both of the theories explain political ignorance and dissagreement, however, both with different takes on the problems of representative democracy with a voting system. Moreover, I discuss rational irrationality and political identity through rationalization, found through my own qualitative focus groups research.
