The review scientific paper presents the life and above all the theological work of the Assistant Professor Franc Plemenitaš, PhD, who, from the restoration of the theological study in Maribor in 1968 to his death in 1989, taught dogmatic theology at the Department in Maribor of the Faculty of Theology of Ljubljana. His main fields of teaching were: Christology with Mariology, the doctrine of sacraments, and missiology. The article provides an overview of his lecture notes. For a session, he was also the Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Theology. Further the paper presents his theological research work in the discussions in the Theological Quarterly Bogoslovni vestnik (3) and articles in the journal Znamenje (13). With the presentation of leading theological streams and authors, especially from the German speaking area, he introduced to Slovenia new theological movements that emerged after the Second Ecumenical Council of the Vatican. In the articles in the journal Znamenje he described in particular theology as a source of socially engaged Christianity.
