After reviewing the professional literature, the aim of the present study is to present the procedures for planning sports training in the field of athletics, decathlon.
The athletic decathlon is a very complex sport discipline. It contains ten different athletic disciplines that have a weak in-between structural, as well as weak psychological, biochemical and biomechanical connectivity and because success in individual discipline of athletic versatility depends on different abilities, skills, and qualities.
In the athletic decathlon, the methodology of exercising is very complex, since it is necessary for it to acquire and improve the high numerical motor skills and knowledge in running, jumping and throwing disciplines to develop a wide range of motor and functional abilities.
In the study, we have presented in detail the disciplines of many athletes, we have analyzed the problems of planning the processes of sports exercises and finally, we have discussed the methods of learning that can be used while working with competitors at different ages. More attention has been focused on designing the annual one-year and several-years-cycle that might be helpful for future trainers.
The work is monographic, we used a descriptive method. We have reviewed the relevant foreign professional sources since in Slovenia there have been no known sources of the written and published researches of this topic.
