The creative industries include economic activities, where an individual's creativity and intellectual property are of the utmost importance, and final products often have non-material and symbolic value. The purpose of the assignment is to define the concept of the creative industries, and to examine and identify geographical characteristics of the creative industries in Novo mesto. The methodical approach includes study of the literature and field work. Data for the analysis of location factors of the creative industries was gathered with a questionnaire. The results show that the creative industries are fairly common in Novo mesto, but the share of employment in the creative industries is quite low. Micro companies with one or two employees are dominant. Novo mesto has good potentials for further development of the creative industries according to the natural and created conditions.
