Analiza obmejnega območja pri Jelšanah

S podpisom schengenskega sporazuma se je Slovenija zavezala k varovanju zunanje meje schengenskega prostora, katerega del je tudi celotna meja s Hrvaško, kar je postavilo obravnavano območje v nov položaj. Vse spremembe, ki so se dogajale spričo novih funkcij mejnih režimov, vplivajo na lokalno prebivalstvo. Tako bo osrednji del magistrske naloge temeljil na terenski raziskavi, ki je potekala v obliki anketnega vprašalnika, opravljeni med lokalnim prebivalstvom. Anketa se osredotoča na življenje prebivalstva ob meji in z mejo, na njihovo prostorsko usmerjenost z več individualno-funkcionalnih perspektiv in raznih navad, ki nakazujejo intenzivnost čezmejnih odnosov in samo prepletenost obravnavanega območja.

• Title: Analysis of the border areas near Jelšane

Abstract

The thesis aims at discussing the border area near the village called Jelšane (Slovenia) and the village called Rupa (Croatia). The Slovenian-Croatian border that was settled in 1991 brought about a variety of political as well as social and economic changes that have had a great impact on people’s lives in the analysed area. It was also the Schengen agreement that encouraged Slovenia as a member of the European Union to implement its principles and ensure a strict control related to cross-border activities between the two countries. The changes of arrangements have had a great impact on local inhabitants. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the main historical as well as geographical characteristics of the analysed areas. What follows is the empirical part of the thesis – an interpretation of information collected from the survey that aimed at recognizing the consequences that the border brought about. Since the local population was asked to reflect on real life situations related to the idea of living near the border, the gathered information is used in order to authentically present the current life circumstances in the analysed border region. The intensity of cooperation as well as the interconnection between both sides of the border are addressed and interpreted.
