The purpose of the BA thesis was to analyze the film poster, it's history and meaning and to form a series of five posters: portrait of director Alfred Hitchcock and film posters for four of his films (Rope, The birds, Vertigo and North by northwest). In the theoretical part, I researched how the film poster has evolved through the years in different cultures, then I focused specifically on the history of Slovene film posters. I analyzed the meaning of film posters and the circumstances that have an impact on its quality. In the practical part, I first go into detail about Alfred Hitchcock and his work, which is followed by a presentation of his portrait. In the end, I analyzed the films’ contents and their original posters and presented my solutions for film posters.
