Today, most of the human activity is located indoors, where the air is restricted and its quality can have negative impact on the resident’s well-being, in some cases even harmful effects. To ensure proper indoor air quality a variety of ventilation systems are used. We researched different types of ventilating principles and methods to determine ventilation efficiency using tracer gases. After reviewing different methods, we decided to use the step-up method to determine ventilation efficiency. We prepared the experimental setup with needed measuring instruments and tracer gas which were used to measure concentration difference with time. We used experimental measurements to determine mean age of air, which represents the time air has spent in a room since its entrance. We used mean age of air to determine ventilation efficiency. During experiments we changed the amount of supplied fresh air and tracer gas so we could observe their effect and compare results.
