Employee engagement is a concept that organizations are increasingly paying attention to, as it contributes to positive effects, such as good atmosphere, productivity, and performance. It is defined as a positive, fulfilling, work-related state of mind, characterized by vigour, dedication, and absorption. Employee engagement is influenced by many organizational factors as well as the individual characteristics of employees. The master's thesis presents the topic of engagement in detail and explores its state among employees in Slovenian organizations.
The methodology used in the theoretical part of this master's thesis is based on descriptive, compilation and comparative methods. In the research part, the quantitative and comparative methods are used, where the survey questionnaire is designed to analyse data between the employees in public and private organizations.
The analysis found that the respondents are familiar with the concept of engagement and, based on their own evaluation, as well as the results of the research, most are engaged or highly engaged at the workplace. Compared to other countries, according to international research, this places them at the very top of the engagement level. Demographic data does not play an essential role in engagement, also, there are no statistically significant differences between the employees of public and private sector.
The findings are the starting point for further research on the topic of engagement in public and private sector organizations. It is expected that the master's thesis will contribute to further understanding, and above all public awareness, that engagement is not only meaningful to organizations, but also to the whole society.
