The subject of this master thesis are the mural paintings in the parish church of St. Štefan in Ribnica na Dolenjskem, which were made in the last quarter of the nineteenth and in the early twentieth century, namely between 1880 and 1907. The central part of the master's thesis defines the history of paintings and their creation and analyses all the mural paintings from the Ribnica parish church. The art addressed in the master thesis reflects the general characteristics of the Slovenian ecclesiastical artistic creativity of that time and follows the established content and stylistic artistic patterns typical of the nineteenth century. The frescoes were made with a process involving several stages and are the work of the painters Janez Wolf, Anton Jebačin, Matija Koželj and France Stare. Among them, Wolf's contribution is of particular importance and can be defined as the one with the highest quality.
