Abstract
Uveljavljen sistem upravljanja kadrov in načrtovanja karier posameznikov znotraj organizacije, pripomore k pravočasnemu prepoznavanju namer zaposlenih v zvezi z njihovo kariero, jim pomaga in jih usmerja k učinkovitemu izvajanju del.

Title:The role of career planning for an organisation and an individual; the case study of University Rehabilitation Institute, Republic of Slovenia - Soča
Abstract:
The dynamic environment of the 21st Century is forcing organisations to constantly adapt to the evolving situation in the fields of economics, politics, technology and culture, that heavily influences the field of the work too. The loss of employment safety relates to changes in the labour market, which also reflects the new kinds of employment and a more flexible working relationship. Career planning is therefore as important for an individual as it is for an organisation. An established personnel management career planning system for individuals employed by an organisation contributes to prompt recognition regarding their career, helps and directs them to effectively execute their jobs and represents how an organisation can influence on the organisation’s operations and its existence. The purpose of the thesis is to research the field of career management, particularly the career development of an individual at the University Rehabilitation Institute, Republic of Slovenia - Soča (later URI - Soča). In the theoretical part of my thesis, I first identified the career definitions and its theoretical concepts. It stresses the importance of career management and an individual’s career development, but also looks at how they’re influenced by the individual and the organisation. E.D. Schein’s Career Anchors theory is described separately. The empirical part includes the description of the URI - Soča and the interpretation of the results of the research about career planning made among the employees. The basic results and conclusions as well as suggestions for improvement in the field of systematic career management planning inside an organisation are included at the end of the research.
