Scènes de l'escalade: une approche sémiotique

Le travail effectué porte sur le th?me des sc?nes de l’escalade vu d’un aspect sémiotique. Le th?me concerne plus précisément les pratiques de l’alpinisme et de l’escalade sportive. L’alpinisme est une pratique qui a officiellement commencé en 1786 avec l’ascension du Mont Blanc par Michel Gabriel Paccard et Jacques Balmat. L’histoire de la progression de l’homme dans les hautes montagnes continue. Mentionnons la premi?re ascension du Mont Everest sans oxyg?ne, par exemple. L’escalade sportive prend de l’ampleur. La sémiotique donne acc?s au langage des pratiques de l’escalade et offre une nouvelle vue sur la valorisation de cette pratique et sur les formes d’appropriation individuelle de la sc?ne de l’escalade de la part du grimpeur dans les hautes montagnes ou en falaise. Ce travail de recherche consiste en étude de deux sous-corpus : les textes sur l’alpinisme; et les textes et surtout les supports médiatisés des blogs et interviews sur l’escalade libre. Partant d’un point de vue stéréotypé des ressemblances des deux pratiques qui sont souvent confondues et passant par une section montrant l’évolution et le passage de l’alpinisme vers l’escalade libre, l’étude de l’escalade et des modalités d’un point de vue sémiotique décortique les sections des activités jusqu’? une microanalyse des mouvements présents en cours de l’activité. Elle montre que l’escalade sportive n’est pas un prolongement de l’alpinisme mais en est un objectif en soi. La recherche a montré que les deux pratiques ont une valorisation similaire de l’éthique, mais une passion comme la peur par exemple, jugée normalement comme analogue, ne peut plus ?tre ressentie de la m?me mani?re.

Abstract

The theme of this work are the climbing scenes shown from the perspective of semiotics. The theme concerns the practices of alpinism and rock climbing. Alpinism is a practice that has officially started with the Michel Gabriel Paccard’s and Jacques Balmat’s ascent of Mont Blanc in 1786. Since then, the history of man’s progression in the high mountains continues. The very first ascent of Everest without the oxygen mask… The rock climbing popularisation is also speeding up. The science of semiotics gives access to a language of practices of climbing and shows a way to a new perspective of the valorisation of this practice and different forms of climbers’ individual appropriation of a climbing scene in the high mountains or in the crag. This work consists of a study of two sub-corpuses: texts related to alpinism; and texts, especially mediatised supports of blogs and interviews treating the theme of sport climbing. Parting from a stereotyped point of view on the resemblances of the two practices which are often confounded and passing by a section that shows the evolution and the passage from alpinism to sport climbing, the study of climbing and the modalities from a semiotic point of view analyses parts of activities approaching also the microanalysis of the movements present in the activity. The study shows that the rock climbing is no longer just an extension of alpinism but is a discipline where climbing is regarded as a goal in itself. The study has also shown that the two practices have a similar valorisation of ethics, even though a passion such as fear for example, normally considered as analogue, can no longer be felt in the same way.
