The principle of modern criminal law are also humane criminal sanctions. Conditional
conviction is one of the warning sanctions and is used instead of short-term imprisonment.
The conditional conviction has developed from the realization that for certain criminal
offenses and certain perpetrators of criminal acts it is not appropriate and necessary to
deprive them of their freedom or implement repressive measures, instead, it is enough to
warn the perpetrators and thus deter them from further committing criminal offenses.
The Conditional conviction has been the most commonly imposed criminal sanction in
the last ten years. It was used in the 19th century in various forms and proved to be an
appropriate criminal sanction. The main goal of the conditional conviction is to provide
the perpetrators of minor offenses contact with the outside world and through various
work with professionally qualified workers, lead them to think differently and discourage
them from committing new criminal offenses. Through various cases, it can be seen that
usually the execution of the criminal offense, where the criminal sanction was imposed,
is largely due to poor relations between the perpetrator and the victim, where often the
perpetrator was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the execution of the criminal
offense.
