The purpose of the paper is to create a short professional monograph, which presents and describes the works of the Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik. The monograph is available to all who have the desire to learn about Plečnik’s work in Kamnik; it can also act as a guide through the architect’s life.
The paper consists of two parts, on the theoretical part and the empirical part. First, the theoretical part defines what a monograph is. We list different types of monographs, such as a professional, a scientific and a popular science monograph, and we also provide some examples. Other printed materials are also described, which are somewhat similar and are often times mistaken for each other, e.g. a monograph, a book, a magazine and a journal (a professional newspaper). Furthermore, we present a biography of the Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik and include a short overview and description of his work in Kamnik and the surrounding area.
In the empirical part of the paper, we created a monograph entitled Plečnik’s work in Kamnik. We included a description of our work process, presenting our idea, design and the final product.
To create a monograph, we used two programs from the Adobe collection. Using the Adobe Photoshop CC we set the images to the correct colour mode CMYK and processed them, and with the Adobe InDesign CC we designed the entire product and at the end prepared it for printing.
