Abstract
V magistrskem delu sem preučevala odnos med depresivnostjo, anksioznostjo, študijsko prilagojenostjo in študijsko uspešnostjo. Študijska prilagojenost se nanaša na stopnjo, do katere študent izpolnjuje akademske, socialne in čustvene zahteve študija. V raziskavi je sodelovalo 415 študentov dodiplomske stopnje študija ter prvih treh letnikov enovitih magistrskih študijskih programov Univerze v Ljubljani. Udeleženci so prek spleta izpolnili Vprašalnik študijske prilagojenosti (CAQ; O'Donnell idr., 2018), Lestvico depresivnosti (CESD; Carleton idr., 2013), Lestvico anksioznosti kot osebnostne poteze (STAI – X2; Spielberger idr., 1983) in Lestvico zadovoljstva z življenjem (SWLS; Diener, Emmons, Larsen in Griffin, 1985). Rezultati so pokazali, da imajo študentke v primerjavi s študenti višje izraženi depresivnost in anksioznost ter poročajo o nižji študijski prilagojenosti, še posebej na čustvenem in socialnem področju. Na splošno se depresivnost in anksioznost povezujeta negativno z dimenzijami študijske prilagojenosti, medtem ko so dimenzije študijske prilagojenosti povezane pozitivno s splošnim zadovoljstvom z življenjem, zadovoljstvom s socialnimi odnosi ter zadovoljstvom s študijem. Subjektivna ocena finančnega položaja, prepričanost v pravo izbiro študija, depresivnost, anksioznost in zadovoljstvo s prijateljskimi odnosi so pomembni napovedniki skupnega dosežka študijske prilagojenosti. Anksioznost in akademski vidik študijske prilagojenosti sta pomembna pozitivna napovednika študijske uspešnosti. Raziskava predstavlja vpogled v študijsko prilagojenost slovenskih študentov ter izpostavlja pomen duševnega zdravja za študijsko prilagojenost študentov.

Title:Relationship between depression, anxiety, college adjustment, and academic achievement
Abstract:
The master’s thesis explores relationships between depression, anxiety, college adjustment, and academic achievement. College adjustment refers to how well students meet the academic, social, and emotional demands of college. The research included 415 undergraduate students of the University of Ljubljana who filled out the following questionnaires online: College Adjustment Questionnaire (CAQ; O'Donnell et al., 2018), the Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CESD; Carleton et al., 2013), State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI – X2; Spielberger et al., 1983), and Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS; Diener, Emmons, Larsen in Griffin, 1985). The results showed that female students reported higher depression and anxiety than male students. Female students also reported lower emotional, social, and overall adjustment to college. In general, depression and anxiety correlate negatively with dimensions of college adjustment. Furthermore, dimensions of college adjustment correlate positively with life satisfaction, social relationships satisfaction, and college satisfaction. Subjective assessment of the financial situation, certainty of study choice, depression, anxiety, and satisfaction with friendship predicted overall adjustment to college. Academic adjustment and anxiety predicted academic achievement. The research provides an insight into the college adjustment of Slovenian students and highlights the importance of mental health for students' college adjustment.
